Whatcom Center for Early Learning Executive Director Sandy Berner Steps Down Peggy Zoro Announced As Interim Executive Director On November 1, 2013, WCEL announced that Sandy Berner will step down as longtime Executive Director of the agency. She will assume a new part time role as Fund Development Coordinator, beginning immediately. Respected Whatcom County businesswoman Peggy Zoro has been hired as Interim Executive Director to lead the agency during this planned transition to a new permanent Executive Director. She will work with the Board of Directors, staff and stakeholders on a strategic plan to successfully guide WCEL into the future. WCEL is hosting a Community Open House at Squalicum Boat House on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm to honor and celebrate Sandy's nine years as Executive Director and to thank its loyal members. Light refresehments and appetizers will be served. Please join us to chat with Berner and to meet Zoro, WCEL staff and Board members.
WCEL Closures WCEL has scheduled closures throughout the year, which include one week at the end of August (summer break) and Labor Day; two weeks at the end of December (generally coincides with the Bellingham School District winter break schedule); one week in April (coincides with the Bellingham School District spring break). We are also closed on the following holidays: Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Ferndale Toddler Time
Check the FTT Programs page for details. Feel free to join us Wednesday mornings from 10am-11:30am, approximately September through May, at the Ferndale Boys & Girls Club, located at 2015 Cherry Street in Ferndale.
